Every now and then, there comes a need to raise some extra funds on the quick. Maybe your car blew up. Maybe you need to make an unexpected flight back home. Maybe you’re trying to bail someone out of the drunk tank after they threw up while trying to give a lap dance to a traffic cop who was really just doing his job.
Yeah. I’m there.
It’s nothing quite so exciting in this case. I’ve just been whacked with a poorly timed bill for several hundred dollars that I wasn’t expecting, and cannot shift. You might have noticed my getting a little creative lately in terms of hocking my wares and that’s all coming from this.
So this is me, putting out the call for work. If you need a little writing done, I’d love to do it. If you need a LOT of writing done, I’ve love to do that too. I’m open to creative suggestions. Feel like getting a few people together and sponsoring a Creative Commons game? I’d love to do that too. Ever wondered what it would be like to play an RPG that used cheese instead of dice? I’m your man. Want someone to write an RPG based around that sci fi show you love that never got enough respect? Hit me, I’m open. I can even give you a flat fee for “Write up the weirdest RPG Idea you’ve ever had.”

Okay. So my budget for Maschine Zeit is kind of tight right now, since I’ve already hired a bunch of writers.
But, here’s my proposal: I’ll help you out in exchange for wordcount.
If someone wants to do a creative commons game, or other indie game, whatever… I’ll contribute equal parts, free of charge, for equal parts words for me later. I’ll probably need adventures written or something.
Basically: Sally wants you to do Fraggle Rock: The RPG as a personal project. She wants it to be 30k. She pays you for 30k. You take the cash. I’ll collaborate with you, and write 10k, 15k, or whatever. This adds my name to the project, possibly getting you more potential takers, and it gives me more fun stuff to do. Later on, you write 10k or 15k for me.
So, while I can’t get you cash, I might be able to extend your potential there. Just a thought.

I’m open to anything really. Thanks for the offer! Let’s see what falls out.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t try to hustle some money in the tabletop games industry… but you might wanna have a plan B.

I’ve not put all my eggs in this basket, if that’s what you mean. I’m hustling in general.

I can’t overly help you at the moment with cash or anything, just bought a house, and well to say its a “lemon” isn’t overly far from the truth. Roof Leaks, Broken sewer system, and new appliances to replace the “new” ones that came with the place.
BAH!
Anyway, if I can help with any sort of writing or play testing let me know. I am relatively new to the community, but I want to get out there and help.

Well… I hopped on to this concept and hired him to design a game for my wife’s anniversary.
I am very happy to say that he over-delivered. He followed my requirements (which admittedly were pretty loose except for play time), and delivered a much nicer game board than I expected.
If you have game design needs, ping him. Seriously. I’m not inexperienced in the game design world, and this over-rode my expectations – particularly since I asked him to completely design a playable game in six weeks.
Don.
