In January this year, Atlas Games released a little card game called Gloom – “The Game of Inauspicious Incidents and Grave Consequences.”

What is not to love about a game in which the primary goal is to kill off your family in the most tragic way possible. Especially when it’s with cards like “Pestered By Poodles” or “Delighted By Ducklings”…

When I bought this domain, I had intended to use it for an idea I’d had nagging at me for a while. The general concept was to do short, 5 question interviews with persons of note, on topics they were not expecting and that they probably hadn’t been interviewed about in the past. Burning questions, that no one ever thinks about.

Does Alice Cooper like his Oranje Juice with or without Pulp? What does Mark Hamill carry in his wallet? Who is Hulk Hogan’s biggest musical influence?

The problem is, really, I don’t know anyone. Also, I’m about the only person who thought it was funny. So, I’m changing direction.

I went to a gamer geek con last weekend, and played in a couple new things. One was Traveller, which was cool. One was (I swore I would never do this) a d20 D&D Game.

Now. I know I have been fairly outspoken against d20, and D&D in general. But one of the guys from the Traveller game was running a pickup game, and he was pretty darn cool, so I decided to jump in.

I was initially charged with the responsibility of interviewing Gary Skinner, senior programmer at Leaping Lizard. Leaping Lizard is a small company that designed Magic Online. When I was given the assignment, I was a little confused: who cares about computers or magic.not me I’ll tell ya. Anyhoo, there is a point to this little intro: for legal reasons Gary couldn.t talk about the company or Magic Online. I still conducted the interview in the name of science. I guess.
